Custom & Bespoke Jewellery Terms & Conditions

Thank you for choosing Lucea Jewellery to create your custom piece.

Every commission is individually designed and handmade to your requirements, making each piece unique to you.

These terms outline how the custom jewellery process works, including design, payment, approvals and completion.

1. Custom Commissions

Custom and bespoke jewellery is created specifically to your requirements and based on the design agreed between you and Lucea Jewellery.

Before work begins, we will discuss your ideas, preferred materials, gemstones, sizing and any other relevant details. A design will then be created for your approval.

2. Design & Amendments

Your commission includes up to three design adjustments.

These adjustments allow us to refine the agreed concept and may include changes to proportions, shape, stone placement or other design details.

Once the three included adjustments have been used, any further design changes may incur an additional fee.

Once you have approved the final design, no further changes can be made without agreement from Lucea Jewellery and any additional costs will be discussed with you before work continues.

3. Design Approval

You will be given the opportunity to review and approve the final design before production begins.

By approving the design, you confirm that you are happy with the agreed design and specifications, including where applicable:

  • Overall design and appearance
  • Metal type and colour
  • Gemstones
  • Dimensions and proportions
  • Ring size
  • Any personalised details or engraving

Lucea Jewellery will make the piece according to the approved design.

Please check all details carefully before giving your final approval.

4. Payment

A 50% non-refundable deposit is required to confirm your commission and begin the design and making process.

The deposit covers the time, design work, preparation and materials committed to your commission.

The remaining 50% balance is payable once the piece has been completed and before it is dispatched or collected.

The finished piece will not be released until the full balance has been received.

The deposit is non-refundable, including if you decide to cancel the commission, change your mind or no longer wish to proceed after the commission has been confirmed.

5. Changes After Production Has Started

Once production has started, changes to the approved design may not be possible.

If changes are possible, they may result in additional material, labour or design costs and may also extend the completion time.

Any additional costs will be discussed and agreed with you before the additional work is carried out.

6. Gemstones & Natural Variations

Where natural gemstones are used, each stone is unique.

Natural gemstones can vary in colour, tone, clarity, inclusions, shape and overall appearance. These natural variations are part of the character and beauty of the stone and are not considered defects.

Where a specific stone has been agreed, the final piece may still have minor variations from photographs or design images due to the natural nature of the gemstone.

7. Ring Sizing

It is the customer’s responsibility to provide the correct ring size.

Where possible, Lucea Jewellery can offer guidance on sizing before production begins. However, the customer remains responsible for confirming their final size.

If a ring requires resizing after completion because the incorrect size was provided or approved, an additional resizing charge may apply.

Some designs, gemstones or settings may have limitations on whether or how they can be resized. This will be discussed where relevant.

8. Estimated Completion Time

An estimated completion date will be provided when your commission is confirmed.

As each piece is individually handmade, the estimated timeframe may occasionally change due to circumstances such as gemstone availability, material availability, supplier delays or unforeseen technical requirements during the making process.

If there is a significant change to the expected completion date, you will be kept informed.

9. Cancellation

Once a commission has been confirmed and the deposit has been paid, the commission is considered booked and work may begin.

The 50% deposit remains non-refundable if you choose to cancel the commission.

If cancellation is requested after work has begun and the value of work or materials already committed exceeds the deposit paid, Lucea Jewellery reserves the right to request payment for any additional costs already incurred.

10. Returns & Exchanges

Because custom and bespoke jewellery is made specifically to your requirements, custom pieces cannot be returned or exchanged simply because you have changed your mind or no longer want the piece.

This does not affect your statutory consumer rights where the jewellery is faulty, not as described, or does not correspond with the agreed design.

If you believe there is a problem with your finished piece, please contact Lucea Jewellery as soon as possible so that the issue can be assessed and an appropriate solution can be arranged.

11. Finished Piece

The finished jewellery will be made as closely as reasonably possible to the approved design.

As each piece is handmade, very small variations may occur. These are part of the handmade nature of the jewellery and do not constitute a defect where they do not materially alter the agreed design.

12. Care & Wear

Lucea Jewellery will provide appropriate care advice for your piece where necessary.

The customer is responsible for caring for the jewellery once it has been received. Damage caused by accidental impact, inappropriate wear, misuse, failure to follow care instructions or normal wear and tear may not be covered by any complimentary repair or adjustment.

If your jewellery requires repair, cleaning, resizing or maintenance in the future, please contact Lucea Jewellery and we can discuss the available options and any applicable costs.

13. Personalisation & Engraving

Where a piece includes personalisation, engraving, initials, names, dates or other customer-provided information, the customer is responsible for checking the spelling, wording, numbers and details before approval.

Once personalised work has been completed, corrections or replacement may incur additional costs.

14. Photography & Marketing

Lucea Jewellery may photograph or film your finished piece for portfolio, website, social media and promotional purposes.

Where a commission contains highly personal or private information that you do not wish to be shared publicly, please let me know before completion.

15. Communication & Approval

The customer is responsible for providing accurate information and responding to design approvals or questions in a reasonable timeframe.

Delays in receiving required information, approvals or decisions may affect the estimated completion date.

16. Agreement

By paying the 50% deposit, you confirm that you have read and agree to these Custom & Bespoke Jewellery Terms & Conditions.

By approving the final design, you confirm that you have checked the design and specifications and authorise Lucea Jewellery to proceed with production.
